Why are Buc-ee's bathrooms famous?
Clean restrooms are a big part of the Buc-ee's brand, and they're a major reason people choose it over other gas stations. Staff clean the restrooms continuously through the day and night, and the travel centers are built with large restrooms so there's rarely a line.
America's Best Restroom
In 2012 the New Braunfels store won Cintas' "America's Best Restroom" contest after a nationwide public vote. At the time that store was also the world's largest convenience store, at 68,000 square feet.
What the restrooms are like
- Private stalls with doors that run close to the floor and ceiling.
- Attendants on duty to clean and restock.
- Enough stalls at the large travel centers that lines are unusual, even on holiday weekends.
The small original stores around Lake Jackson and Freeport are ordinary convenience stores, so the famous restrooms are really a feature of the large travel centers (biggest stores).
