About Buc-ee's Kolaches
Kolaches are a Czech pastry that became a Texas staple thanks to Czech immigrants who settled in the Hill Country. The traditional version is a soft, slightly sweet yeast bun with a fruit or cheese filling.
Many of the kolaches at Buc-ee's are the savory kind: the same soft dough wrapped around sausage, often with cheese and jalapeño. Strictly speaking those are klobasnek, but in Texas everyone calls both kinds kolaches. Try the sausage, jalapeño & cheese kolache, the sausage & cheese kolache or the cheese kolache.
They're a morning item, so they're easiest to find fresh before the kitchen switches to lunch (breakfast hours).
